Hurschell David Hole, 81, Decatur, died November 2, 2011 at Lincoln Rehabilitation Center.

A celebration of Hurschell’s life will be at 9:00 a.m. Monday, November 7, 2011 at Dawson & Wikoff North Chapel, 4020 N. Water St., Decatur, with the Rev. Jerrold D. Clonch officiating. Visitation will be from 3 pm-5 pm Sunday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield immediately following the funeral.

Born on May 24, 1930 to Virgil and Lucy (Weikel) Hole, Hurschell was raised on a farm just outside New Richmond, IN, with two brothers, Lelan and Marvin, and two sisters, Rita and Zetta. All except Marvin preceded Hurschell in death.

After graduating from New Richmond High School in 1948, Hurschell left the family farm to work on the railroad. After three years, he was drafted into the U.S. Army in the Transportation Corps where he served as an engineer in Korea. Upon his honorable discharge, Hurschell returned to the railroad where he would work for almost 40 more years until his retirement in 1992.

Hurschell leaves three sons: David (Chris) Hole, Normal, IL; Mike (Angela) Hole, Huntsville, AL; and DeMetryus Frye, Decatur, IL. He had six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He will be missed.
